It's Game Time!

Waking up this morning was like being on a game show. Lucia woke me up gently and softly, while Luiz came in and decided it was a good time for "bed roll game!".. let me explain... Luiz roles me slowly off the bed. Fun game? Well, he thought so too which led to ... 'armpit game', 'pinch game', 'double chin game'... any sort of thing to poke up and push became a style of gaming that was going to be played. The Mediterranean was calling our name again, and we head back out towards the beach. Immediately an espresso was ordered, sunscreen was put on, and a few slices of watermelon were consumed. My skin is of a different color shade than it was oh... 3 days ago. Luckily there's a good lotion that the French pharmacy sells, and I'm able to soothe my dehydrated skin with.

After 8 years of sustaining Luizs' craving for Vietnamese food, today it was fulfilled. And to an extreme. We went down to the central area of Nice where there was this little venue that had everything that Luiz so badly desired to be in his belly. We ordered enough food to last until about Thanksgiving time and joyfully walked back to the apartment to eat this filling food and to have a mandatory nap time. The plan was successful.

We woke up when the sun began to set and the heat went with it, so we put on our exploring pants and headed out to find Vieux Nice. (the old part of Nice) This part of town is where the ally ways are tiny, tiny and the buildings grow older. Walking on the brick laden streets and peeking into little stores here and there, the city began to feel alive. Restaurants began to set their forks and spoons to prepare for their evening customers on their outside dining areas, vendors with little knick-knacks were set up for the strollers that were to come, and we were soaking it all in.

The fact that so much history could be held in that minimum amount of square feet was pretty unique, and that it was still standing as a main attraction.

At one point we were walking and Luiz said "Lo, you're going to want to go into this store." He was right. I so badly wanted to go in to this sweets bakery! Hello, La Cure Gourmande, we can be friends! I felt like a little baby child in a French candy store. There were so many cookies and tarts and chocolates to choose from. I wanted all the little tins they were in, and I wanted to eat everything that I could before my stomach couldn't hold one last little kilo. We left with a (cute, of course) baggie full of baked cookies and two homemade lollipops that were placed on small wooden sticks.
Don't worry... we'll be back.

We kept venturing back to our home ground and passed by un parc and we stopped and sat by the array of exploding water fountains, while a section of the park near us was being used to conduct dancing lessons. There was loud conga music playing, and a French main repeatingly count to 3 in French.

As soon as we got raced up the elevators, we walked into a Wii mania. That is when it became time... time to DANCE!  We started to participate in the dance game, and lemme tell you... you better know how to groove and move. After listening to some Cotton Eye Joe and Spice Girls, we all had a consensus that, 1. it was blazing hot due to all the sweat we worked up and 2. we got the beat!

Baisers de l'étranger!

  1. OH...my beautiful daughter. How in the world did you become so sophisticated...and still retain your humor and at the same time "take in the world." I am so happy that at 20 years old you are enjoying life...enjoying the world (as so many never get to do)...enjoying your "man friend" AND "his parents." Know that I love you and miss you with all of my heart! Dad
